…or just me. Who knows. I tried to deny it but I don’t think I can anymore. I have a horrible addiction.
Tattoos and Piercings
It’s horrible, but I found myself saying it three times today. “I want a new piercing.”
Now, it is my absolute LAST desire in the world to turn into one of those people that sets off metal detectors in the airport because there’s more metal on my face than actual skin, but it’s been officially one year and 5 months since I’ve been able to get tattoos and piercings legally and I have four of each (if you count both wrist piercings as separate.)
Now, as far as tattoos go, I’m doing my best to hold off. I’ve heard far too many horror stories of regrettable tattoos to cover my body in what seems interesting at 19 years old since I’m well aware that my tastes will change, but I realized that my suitable substitute for this masochistic fixation is piercings.
If we do the math, (including adding the re-inking of my chest tattoo and subtracting one of the wrist piercings since they were done at the same time) it averages out to about one tattoo or piercing every 2 months.
At this rate, when I am:
21: I will have a total of 18 tattoos and/or piercings
30: I will have a total of 78 tattoos and/or piercings
40: I will have a total of 138 tattoos and/or piercings.
Now, realistically, I know this obsession will fizzle out as old age approaches (I hope for the sake of my body) but I don’t want to even get to the age of 30 with anything NEAR 78 tattoos and piercings!
So the question is, how do you sate this masochistic obsession with body modification before your 30 year old body sets off metal detectors? Now that they have microdermal piercings there’s no limit to the places you can put metal, and god knows, thanks to the lizard man, it is obvious that you can never run out of places for tattoos.
I guess it’s like any addiction right? …willpower and staying away from tattoo shops. :/
