You Are What You Eat

I’d never thought of it before I read an article by Stellacat at Aquilus, but she’s absolutely right.  Feeding is vital in the life of any psychic vampyre, it’s true.  But–so is eating.

I know it sounds like a no brainer, but with our generation’s growing adoration for fast food–we aren’t really “nourishing” our bodies anymore, let alone our energy and chakras.  Again, I hadn’t thought about it before, but everything we consume holds energy, and has an “energy imprint.”  Basically, it holds energy in the form of nutrients, it holds the energy of the animal it came from (if it’s meat), the energy of the people who handled it before it got to you.

So–think about it.  Where did your food come from before it got to you?  Pardon me for being extreme, but the reality is, a lot of animals that are slaughtered for food are treated terribley inhumanely and all of the emotions, fear, pain, etc. that they felt before they were killed remains in the meat.  (Wow, morbid, sorry, but you get the idea.)  Think about all the hands of all the people that handled that apple, or all the processing those canned vegetables went through.

The purer, the cleaner the food, the better and more positive the energy, and the better the energy for you.  According to Stellacat, “…when you eat a poor diet, you have excess fat which leads to higher cholesterol, which leads to higher blood pressure, which causes poor circulation, and if your blood isn’t flowing properly this affects your over all energy levels. How open can your chakras be if your blood isn’t flowing properly? All your body’s systems work together including your energy centers. It is vital that we keep our chakras healthy and are open to accepting energy from other sources than food.”

Basically–if your energy circulation if hindered by a terrible diet, it closes down your chakras which also prevents you from being able to take in and process energy to its fullest extent while you’re feeding–this leads to you being hungry more often, feeding more often, and just not feeling your best.

So–you want to nourish your body, energy, and soul?  Me too!  So, I took the liberty of finding some good foods specifically to help open up your chakras and help your energy circulate better.  A fellow blogger divided them up into the best foods for each individual chakra. (Thank you fellow blogger.)

Root Chakra: tofu, carrots, beans, potatoes, meats, parsnips, eggs, radishes, garlic and beets

Sacral Chakra: mangos, almonds, melons, cinnamon and honey

Solar Plexus: cereals, cheese, flax seed, ginger, milk, and mints

Heart Chakra: thyme, sage, spinach, basil, broccoli and green teas

Throat Chakra: apples, kiwi, lemons, lemon grass, limes, plums, pears and salt

Third Eye Chakra: blueberries, red grapes, black berries, lavender, and poppy seed

Crown Chakra: sage, copal, myrrh, frankincense, and juniper

Not to mention, eating these foods, drinking these drinks, and using these spices will not only help open up and ground your chakras, but will help with other things while you’re at it.  For example, feeding your solar plexus will help raise your self-esteem, feeding your heart chakra helps heal emotional upsets, your throat chakra allows you to speak your truth, and your crown chakra helps open and clear spiritual communication.

And don’t forget to always be conscious of where the food is coming from.  Food from the local or farmer’s market is of course handled by less people, processed far less, and generally more organic and better for you.

If you still want to know more foods to help nourish your body and help circulate your energy, there are a few sites that have great lists and advice on using food to do just that:

Psychic Feeding Method #3 – The Aura “Net”

This method is great, and completely non-intrusive if you don’t have a specific donor and you have moral issues with taking from a stranger without permission.  It’s called the Aura/Aural/Energy Net.  Choose your favorite. 🙂

The technique is simple and can be used a multitude of ways.  Like most feeding techniques you kind of have to experiment a little and see which is most comfortable and effective for you.

The Aura Net is used to feed on ambient energy, meaning that it is no longer connected to a person but “given off” by them, like–body heat.  Ambient energy exists anywhere and everywhere that people are expelling energy or emotions, but it is most concentrated where there are large crowds (clubs, concerts, rallies, etc) who are preferably gathered for a similar purpose, this synergy makes the energy more intense.

When around such a crowd, it is often the nature of a psychic vampyre to absorb the energy anyway, but for more concentrated feeding, you use the aura net.

Take a moment to focus on your own energy field, visualize it if it helps.  Some see it as a sort of field of light, or a big amorphous cloud, but it can be whatever you see it as.  Now, as you imagine this energy field, or your aura, focus on extending it outward from yourself and into the crowd around you, thereby creating a “net” that captures the ambient energy in the room.  At this point, the energy joins with yours and can be absorbed through your “net” and back into yourself, or simply pull your energy back in and bring the ambient energy with it and into you as your energy closes back in on you.  Always always remember though to pull the energy back in after feeding rather than leaving yourself open.

Simple as that!

With this technique you are not “stealing” the energy from another human being, but simply taking what they willingly give off.  Though, it should be considered that it is not often suitable for sustaining most psychic vampyres for long long periods of time.  Energy directly from a donor or other human being is almost always more potent and sustainable, and should be used if available.

Hunger.

I’m not usually one to just come right out and talk about my vampyrism. Vampyrism in general, no problem, but I’ve seen enough ridicule and misconceptions to be wary about connecting all of this to myself.

But–I haven’t fed in weeks–and call it the effects of hunger, but this was the only thing on my mind, and the only thing I could think to write about right now.

I was dumb enough to think that–after 2 weeks, I could easily make it through another 2 until Matt’s lip piercing was healed (don’t ask why this is important to feeding, it just is), and I’ve never reacted so badly to not feeding for so long.

I’ve been enduring the normal fatigue, compensating with gratuitous amounts of caffeine, but today, somehow, everything just fell out. I woke up this morning STARVING. Not energy hunger, physical, real, painful hunger, and dying of thirst. I didn’t make the connection.

I of course scarfed down my breakfast and chugged my bottle of water, feeling more than satisfied, but less than fifteen minutes later the hunger was back full force and I found myself reaching for more water. Strangely enough though, the normal fatigue that cued me to feed was gone and replaced with this horrible can’t-sit-still restlessness, SANS caffeine believe it or not.

This is about the time when I began recalling Day’s horror stories of insatiable hunger and unquenchable thirst when she’d gone for a while without feeding. I assumed it was because of her sanguinary side, but this matched completely.

I scoured the internet and my books for feeding techniques other than the one I used and this is what I found:

  • Use of aural “nets” to capture energy from other people
  • Using the same technique but on large crowds
  • Physical touch involving deep relaxation and concentration

The first two are difficult–one: I haven’t refined my strengths enough to feed without physical contact, and two: I have absolutely no access to a “large group of people” in an office for 6.

Now, the physical touch technique held no problems for me–until I considered my donor. A restless, angsty, and skeptical guy who couldn’t sit still if you were paying him. Deep relaxation and ESPECIALLY deep concentration were out of the question. And you can’t necessarily go up to strangers and say “Hey uh–can I borrow you for a second? Real quick.”

I settled for a big bloody steak to tide me over, a sort of placebo if you will, to trick your body into thinking its consuming real energy. Cruel, I know, but it helped me for a couple of hours. Now I’m back to scouring the beautiful thing called google for help. :/

Glorious, right?
