You Are What You Eat

I’d never thought of it before I read an article by Stellacat at Aquilus, but she’s absolutely right.  Feeding is vital in the life of any psychic vampyre, it’s true.  But–so is eating.

I know it sounds like a no brainer, but with our generation’s growing adoration for fast food–we aren’t really “nourishing” our bodies anymore, let alone our energy and chakras.  Again, I hadn’t thought about it before, but everything we consume holds energy, and has an “energy imprint.”  Basically, it holds energy in the form of nutrients, it holds the energy of the animal it came from (if it’s meat), the energy of the people who handled it before it got to you.

So–think about it.  Where did your food come from before it got to you?  Pardon me for being extreme, but the reality is, a lot of animals that are slaughtered for food are treated terribley inhumanely and all of the emotions, fear, pain, etc. that they felt before they were killed remains in the meat.  (Wow, morbid, sorry, but you get the idea.)  Think about all the hands of all the people that handled that apple, or all the processing those canned vegetables went through.

The purer, the cleaner the food, the better and more positive the energy, and the better the energy for you.  According to Stellacat, “…when you eat a poor diet, you have excess fat which leads to higher cholesterol, which leads to higher blood pressure, which causes poor circulation, and if your blood isn’t flowing properly this affects your over all energy levels. How open can your chakras be if your blood isn’t flowing properly? All your body’s systems work together including your energy centers. It is vital that we keep our chakras healthy and are open to accepting energy from other sources than food.”

Basically–if your energy circulation if hindered by a terrible diet, it closes down your chakras which also prevents you from being able to take in and process energy to its fullest extent while you’re feeding–this leads to you being hungry more often, feeding more often, and just not feeling your best.

So–you want to nourish your body, energy, and soul?  Me too!  So, I took the liberty of finding some good foods specifically to help open up your chakras and help your energy circulate better.  A fellow blogger divided them up into the best foods for each individual chakra. (Thank you fellow blogger.)

Root Chakra: tofu, carrots, beans, potatoes, meats, parsnips, eggs, radishes, garlic and beets

Sacral Chakra: mangos, almonds, melons, cinnamon and honey

Solar Plexus: cereals, cheese, flax seed, ginger, milk, and mints

Heart Chakra: thyme, sage, spinach, basil, broccoli and green teas

Throat Chakra: apples, kiwi, lemons, lemon grass, limes, plums, pears and salt

Third Eye Chakra: blueberries, red grapes, black berries, lavender, and poppy seed

Crown Chakra: sage, copal, myrrh, frankincense, and juniper

Not to mention, eating these foods, drinking these drinks, and using these spices will not only help open up and ground your chakras, but will help with other things while you’re at it.  For example, feeding your solar plexus will help raise your self-esteem, feeding your heart chakra helps heal emotional upsets, your throat chakra allows you to speak your truth, and your crown chakra helps open and clear spiritual communication.

And don’t forget to always be conscious of where the food is coming from.  Food from the local or farmer’s market is of course handled by less people, processed far less, and generally more organic and better for you.

If you still want to know more foods to help nourish your body and help circulate your energy, there are a few sites that have great lists and advice on using food to do just that:

FAQ – Can I be turned into a vampyre?

So, fortunately this question hasn’t yet been asked to me personally, and I’m a little glad as that is a good sign, but it shows up pretty often in the list of “search terms” people are finding me under…

You’ll get mixed answers on this from everyone, as everyone awakens differently.  Some people believe they were “turned” while others just “realized” their true nature.  So, not everything I say here will apply to every vampyre, much like anything else I write here, but I’ll give you the “general” widely accepted answer to the question:

No…if it is not part of you already, no vampyre can TURN you into a vampyre.

Now, let me explain. 🙂

Awakenings CAN happen by being fed on by another vampyre, which is often perceived as being “turned.”  And, keep in mind, I’m talking strictly psychic vamps here.  It is said that the energy of a psychic vampyre, when mixed with that of a “potential” or unawakened vampyre, can spur that change that will cause the potential vampyre to awaken into their nature.  (This is how I was awakened.) Because the potential vampyre may have not even known about his/her vampyrism before that point, to them it was much like they were turned into a vampyre by the other.  It is not instantaneous by any means, for me it took nearly three years to completely understand what I was doing, and what it meant to be a psychic vampyre, but it became much easier as I was surrounded by others who were the same.

But, this is not some sort of ritual that can be performed on just anyone.  You can not approach a vampyre and say “turn me” and have it be done.  …Don’t try it, please.

The other way, is slower, and in some ways more common.  That way is that the potential vampyre realizes on their own what they are, what they are doing, and what they need to stay healthy (energy).  This is usually a slower process, as most often it is a very solitary process as there are no outside influences to suggest which steps should be taken.  Some seek help from awakened vampyres after their realization, some begin to feed and survive based on instinct, some never even realize what their doing and simply feed involuntarily.  (These are sometimes the people you just feel “down” or “drained” around for no apparent reason.)

In both cases however, vampyrism was already a part of the person who awakened.  It was not non-existent one day and just “placed” there the next.

If none of this makes sense, or you want more in depth details on awakening, just comment this post and I’ll try my best to answer your questions. 🙂

The Black Veil – Saftey

Alright, for those who haven’t been following along, here is part one and two of the black veil series, with some more detailed info on what the black veil and its purpose are.  🙂  Part 3 is “Saftey.”

Use sense when indulging your nature. Do not flaunt what you are in public places. Feed in private and make certain your donors will be discrete about what happens between you. Donors who create rumors and gossip about us are more harm than they’re worth. If you engage in blood-letting, put safety and caution above all other things. Blood-born diseases are a very real thing, and we cannot risk endangering ourselves or others through irresponsibility. Screen donors carefully, making certain they are in good health both mentally and physically.

Never overindulge or get careless. The safety of the entire community rests upon each member’s caution.

I can’t stress enough how important saftey is, if you can’t tell by my other posts.  So many people get so consumed by the glory or the magic, or the image, the illusion of vampyrism that they overlook saftey entirely, and that’s the part where things go spiralling downward.

This section of the black veil makes donors sound rather–er–idiotic, but honestly its a good point.  With the reputation modern day vampyres get, donors who actually participate in the feeding process, especially those who did not have any idea or inkling that vampyrism was practiced in the first place, very often get excited and relay their experiences to people who–well–may not exactly understand, or may take small bits of information and apply what they’ve learned from Hollywood to blow it out of proportion.

This is not to say that NO ONE understands, but it’s important to be careful when opening up to people, especially donors.

In the process of my awakening, I was like a child with a wonderful secret, and likewise, I wanted to tell eeeveryone.  And that I did..and I broke this very important rule.  I fed in public, in not so discrete ways, I told people about me for shock value, or just so that someone else would know.  I won’t give you the entire story, but it did not end well, and gained me a reputation that was entirely too difficult to lose after I began to mature and grow into my nature, realizing the importance of this rule.  In this case it was my fault and not my donor’s, but the same exact principle applies.

Now, the part about blood-letting no longer applies to me, but for those sanguinarian vampyres, or hybrids, this rule is terribly TERRIBLY important.  Diseases, both from human and/or animal blood (if that’s your thing) are very real, and no one is immune.  As tedious and extreme as it sounds, if you are going to feed on blood, make sure that your donor gets tested regularly or that you are getting the blood from a credible source.  Also, be careful with your methods, dirty implements or ESPECIALLY using your teeth (I’ve spoken about this in a previous post) can be extremely easy ways for bacteria to get into your body and harm you.  Always ALWAYS make sure that blood-letting occurs in a safe, sterile, and private place.

The safety of the community does lie in the hands of those within it, this applies to any community, vampyre or otherwise.

Psychic Vampyre Feeding Method #1

I decided to start with one that’s a little more unconventional, just because it is my own personal preference.

Biting.

Alright alright, hold on there, I know.  It sounds a lot like I’m careening into Anne Rice novels, but hear me out.  There are much much more conventional methods that I’ll eventually list, but all of them involve literally pulling the energy out of someone into yourself.  Imagining yourself TAKING the energy of another, hence psychic vampyre.  But, for some reason, I’ve always had some really big issues with the “taking” part.  On a moral level, it just seemed plain wrong, and consequently, I sort of block myself from taking energy (unless I’m super desperate and it is unententional).

However, being GIVEN energy is a different story entirely, and is the main way that I receive mine in times of need.  Other vampyres do the same thing in different ways, some do it through sexual acts, affection (kissing, hugging, etc), among other things, including non-sexual.  But, alas, I do not have someone that I am that close to, however, biting quickly became a suitable alternative.

Let’s get this straight before I start too…I’m talking about DONOR biting VAMPYRE.  Not the other way around, though it is just as easily done that way.

Here’s how it works:

Biting, if you strip it down, is someone else putting effort into inflicting pain on you, with no gap between you and them, no instuments, no space, no nothing.  Effort=Energy, Biting=Physical Contact, both the things a psychic vampyre needs to feed.  (Side note: not ALL vampyres need physical conact, but many do.) Now, keep in mind you kind of have to have a masochistic side for this to work.  The best part about biting though, is that the donor is in complete control, when they are done giving energy, they pull away.  When feeding I don’t have to worry about taking too much, or making them feel uncomfortable in the end, because when they feel it needs to stop, it stops.

This is a personal method, and by no means is used universally, especially because of the inherent dangers.  Keep in mind, when I do this, there are no fangs, no blood, no broken skin.  We’re not ravenous animals here.  Breaking skin can be very dangerous as all of the bacteria in the other person’s mouth have a direct path into your body, so do NOT NOT NOT try that, and if you do I did NOT give you that idea.  Ya hear?

Psychic vampyres feed on energy, not blood, so we treat it as such.  An energetic experience, almost gentle and affectionate, rather than animals tearing into eachother.  (Gentle might be overdoing it, it’s still “biting” I suppose…the point is, don’t be violent just to be violent, for God’s sake.)
